Us
The Salem
County Watershed Task Force is a volunteer group of citizens formed
in 1995 with the assistance of the Delaware Riverkeeper Network and the
Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions.
The members of SCWTF represent
many towns in Salem County, to include Alloway, Elsinboro, Hancocks Bridge,
Lower Alloways Creek, Mannington, Monroeville, Pilesgrove, Pittsgrove,
Upper Pittsgrove and Woodstown.
The goals of the SCWTF are:
- To focus public attention on the value of watersheds
- To promote a greater understanding of the fragility of our watersheds
and to be alert to threats to their existence
- Water quality testing
- Watershed observation and monitoring
- To serve as a clearinghouse of information relating to Salem County's
natural environment
- To perform river and stream clean ups
- Watershed mapping and the preparation of resource inventories relating
to our watersheds
- To assist in local and regional planning to preserve our watersheds
and Salem County's precious natural resources
